wretched in a sentence Paeanumnion by Mouse on Mars at HAU 21 (Hebbel Am Ufer) Berlin 2014

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Cologne Philharmonic Mouse on Mars were commissioned to compose Paeanumnion, a hybrid of contemporary classical and avant-garde electronic music. The composition by Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma translates their idiosyncratic use of abstract electronic sounds into the world of acoustic instrumentation. It was realized in collaboration with composer and conductor André de Ridder, composer and arranger Stefan Streich, composer Brigitta Muntendorf and the soloists of Ensemble Musikfabrik Cologne. Originally conceived in 2008 and first performed with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the Harris Theater Chicago the piece premiered in its current form in 2011 and was since performed at Cologne Philharmonic, Barbican London and Hau 21 Berlin. The next performance by Mouse on Mars with Ensemble Musikfabrik takes place during Hollandfestival 2017 at Amsterdam's Concertgebouw.
