A special wetsuit has been developed that is able to make swimmers almost invisible to sharks.

Known as "Elude", the wetsuit works by obscuring the user's figure with unique colouration and shaping patterns to disguise swimmers in the water.

There has also been another wetsuit developed that does the opposite. With its zebra-like pattern, it actively deters sharks from approaching the swimmer as it could be seen as a dangerous food source.

The wetsuits themselves are not shark-proof but they are designed to reduce the chance of attacks.

The giant crack that's been racing across Antarctica Larsen C ice shelf finally met its breaking point between July 10 and 12. The result was an iceberg the size of Delaware and weighing a trillion metric tons.

But that's not the end of the story. In fact, it could be the beginning of a more important, more dangerous story.

The iceberg that broke off — dubbed A68 — was just one piece of the much larger Larsen C ice shelf. Now, scientists want to know how stable is the ice shelf that has been left intact, connected to the Antarctic continent.

Recent satellite images suggest that pieces of the remaining ice shelf are already preparing to break off, creating more, smaller icebergs that will join Iceberg A68.

Moreover, a new crack has formed close to where the old crack left off. And it's headed for Bawden Ice Rise, which is a critical anchor point for the ice shelf. Scientists aren't certain the crack will reach Bawden Ice Rise, but they are keeping a close eye on it, nevertheless.

We reached out to SpaceX for more details about this mysterious robot, but it was unable to give us any information. However, we can tell you that SpaceX only refers to the machine as a robot and does not assign it any other name (like Roomba or Optimus Prime).

For this video, we connected with some of SpaceX's fans. Photos shown in the video were taken by Julia Bergeron (@julia_bergeron) and David Akin, University of Maryland.

The animation of how the robot might work was created and produced by Lukas Kowalski who has a YouTube called kNews Space, which features more cool animations. Following is a transcript of the video.

There’s a mysterious robot roaming about on one of SpaceX’s drone ships. Some are calling it the “Roomba” robot, while others refer to it as “Optimus Prime.” No one is certain of its real name or exactly how this robot works, but we do know one thing: SpaceX isn’t giving any details away — yet.

The new machine first attracted attention when it appeared on SpaceX’s drone ship “Of Course I Still Love You” in March. Since then, many SpaceX fans have speculated as to its purpose and function. The leading theory is that this robot helps stabilize Falcon 9 rockets after the first stage touches down so that the rough ocean waves don’t tip the rocket off balance.

If that’s the case, then this robot could save SpaceX a lot of time and effort. Right now, after a rocket touches down on one of SpaceX’s drone ships, SpaceX sends a crew out to the ship to secure the rocket before returning it to shore.

But this new robot could speed up the process. Here’s how that might work:

The robot lives on the drone ship. After a rocket landing, it exits its cubby, drives itself underneath the rocket, and secures the rocket to the ship. Now, the drone ship can immediately head back to shore as it would no longer need to wait for a crew. If SpaceX fans are right, this could be the latest self-navigating robot in SpaceX’s already impressive fleet of self-guiding rockets and self-sailing ships.

Who knows what SpaceX will build next. It probably won’t disappoint.

A new device that is capable of cooling your drink to the perfect temperature has just reached its funding goal on Indiegogo.

Developed by Pronto Concepts, the "ProntoBev" can turn almost any drink cold in thirty seconds or less without ice. Users can see just how cold their beverage is using the built-in thermometer.

Its cooling mechanism is thanks to a special gel developed by the product's inventor, Alexander Simone.

Mr Simone spent a year designing, testing and redesigning the product before launching his campaign on the crowdfunding site.

The ProntoBev is large enough to fit a winebottle's worth of liquid but it can be used for other drinks to, such as water, juice, whiskey or even coffee.

A Yuncheng City salt lake in China's Sanxi Province is covered with white foam that looks like snow in the middle of the summer.

While scientists don't know for sure what causes all the foam, experts think it's a result of a unique mixture of algae and plankton in the salty water.

Researchers at the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences also think a recent string of windy days in the region combined with high temperatures contributed to the mixture of conditions that created the foam.

Locals are stunned by the peculiar sight and have taken to the lake's shores to photograph the phenomenon.

The whole process was captured on camera and the results were hilarious. The footage shows people's faces completely changing shape due to the force of the wind

Most parents would agree: children grow up far too quickly. But they grow out of their clothes even quicker. A London-based designer wants to change that with a range of outerwear for kids that grows as the child does.

Called Petit Pli - French for 'little pleat' - the garments have an innovative pleat system that lets them expand in multiple directions but also contract back to their original size.

"It's designed for continuous fit adjustment, so it'll never be a little bit too short or a little bit too long," designer Ryan Mario Yasin, a graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, told Reuters. "It's always changing its shape and morphing with the child even in motion. So as the child is running around the pleats are deforming in both directions either folding together or expanding, and moving in synchrony with the child."

According to Yasin, children grow seven clothes sizes during their first two years, meaning parents are left with a lot of clothes that have barely been worn before they're too small for the child. Petit Pli was designed to save parents money and to reduce the waste in the fashion industry, he said.

With a background as an aeronautical engineer specialising in deployable structures, Yasin said his outfits embed a special structure in fabric that was inspired by the ancient Japanese art of origami.

"This is really engineering meets fashion. I've taken my knowledge of materials and folding origami and applied that to a product which is aimed at reducing the waste in the fashion industry," he said.

Petit Pli has been designed for children aged from four months to 36 months, and the expanding fabric eliminates discrepancies in children's sizes so they're always the perfect fit. Yasin said he approached the durability of his garments by regarding children as 'extreme athletes'; always on the move and in need of clothes that can keep up.

"It's super lightweight so you can layer it on top of your clothes at any time of the year. It's windproof and waterproof with a hydrophobic coating," said Yasin.

The patent-pending pleating process has been rigorously tested to prove that the pleats won't fall out with use, and the garments are even machine washable.

Yasin is now working on different sizes and designs and looking for commercial partners to scale-up production to bring Petit Pli to market.
